Big Progress on Brushy Bayou
Big progress on the Brushy Bayou project in Concordia Parish as crews improve drainage and prepare to pour the new spillway cap.
Photos truly don’t capture the scale of what’s happening out here. Right now, stormwater from the Frogmore, Dunbarton, and Stacy communities has to travel more than 40 miles to Bayou Cocodrie before being pumped into the Black River—creating operational challenges at the pump station and increasing flood risks in nearby areas.
This project will significantly improve regional drainage and help reduce operating costs at the pump station. Next up: removing the temporary sheet pile wall and pouring a concrete cap to form the new spillway.
Stay tuned—more progress ahead!
